Sanja Erceg was born in 1993 in Belgrade, where she finished elementary school and high school. She enrolled at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Belgrade, Department of Pharmacy - Medical Biochemistry in 2012, and graduated in 2017 with an average grade of 9.67. She has won several scholarships and awards, of which she singles out: the scholarship of the Fund for Young Talents - Dositeja, the scholarship for exceptionally gifted students, the scholarship of the Studenica Foundation, as well as the annual award for the best students of integrated academic studies. After completing her studies, she also completed an internship in the biochemical laboratory of Mother and Child Healthcare Institute of Serbia 'Dr Vukan Čupić' and passed the State licensing exam. Shortly afterwards, she was employed by the company "Vicor d.o.o." as an Application Specialist for laboratory equipment. In 2018, she enrolled in PhD studies at the Department of Medical Biochemistry, and at the invitation of the head of the Department, she soon began working there, first as a Research Trainee, then as a Teaching Associate, and from 2021 as a Teaching Assistant. Also, in 2021, she completed specialist academic studies, module - Biochemical Diagnostics. Sanja Erceg participates in conducting practical courses in the following compulsory and elective subjects: General Biochemistry, Medical Biochemistry, Statistics in Pharmacy and Application of Information Technology in Medical Biochemistry. She was given excellent grades in student surveys on the evaluation of teachers' pedagogical work. Since 2019, she has been an associate on one domestic and two international projects. She is a regular member of the Society of Medical Biochemists of Serbia, EFLM Academy, as well as the Serbian Biochemical Society. She was a participant in the CEEPUS summer school (Portorož, Slovenia, 2019), as well as in the IPSF - student exchange program (Algiers, Algeria, 2017). Sanja's research work is primarily focused on microRNA profiling in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and type 2 diabetes.
