Milena Kovačević graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade in 2011 with an average grade of 9.59. She completed a one-year internship at the Pharmacy "Belgrade" and the hospital pharmacy of the Clinical Hospital Center Zemun during 2011 and 2012. She passed the professional exam for pharmacists at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia in 2013.

She enrolled in doctoral academic studies - module pharmacokinetics and clinical pharmacy in the school year 2011/12. at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade. She defended her doctoral dissertation entitled "Assessment of the frequency and predictors of clinically significant drug-drug interactions and their impact on the outcomes of therapy for patients with cardiovascular disease" in June 2020. Milena Kovačević was promoted to Doctor of Medical Sciences-Pharmacy at the University of Belgrade in October 2020. She also completed the postgraduate academic specialization in Pharmaceutical Care at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade in 2014.

She has been employed at the Department of Pharmacokinetics and Clinical Pharmacy of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade since October 2012. Participates in the preparation and implementation of practical classes in the compulsory subjects Pharmacokinetics, Clinical Pharmacy and the elective subject Selected Chapters of Clinical Pharmacokinetics. She also participates in conducting practical classes in the elective subject Interprofessional Education, which is realized in cooperation with the Faculty of Pharmacy, School of Medicine and Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University of Belgrade. PhD Milena Kovačević is also involved in teaching at integrated academic studies in English, at doctoral academic studies, as well as the short study program "Drug Safety and Fundamentals of Pharmacovigilance".

Milena Kovačević attended trainings focused on the development of academic skills and competencies of teaching and research staff of the University of Belgrade within the project TRAIN (Training and Research for Academic Newcomers) and ReFEEHS (Improvement of teaching and mentoring competencies for the education of health professionals). In July 2018, she attended a summer school in pharmacoepidemiology and drug safety at the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands. She is a member of the European Association for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapy (EACPT), the International Association for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE), Circle U European University Alliance, and the Association for Medical Education in Serbia. She is continuously engaged in the activities of the Section for Pharmaceutical Care of the Pharmaceutical Association of Serbia.

PhD Milena Kovačević participated in several national and international scientific, research, educational, development and professional projects. She has shown research interest in the field of medical sciences - pharmacy, narrow field of interest pharmacokinetics, clinical pharmacokinetics, clinical pharmacy, drug safety. Milena Kovačević has published 47 scientific papers and short communications papers. She gave five invited lectures at the congress and symposiums of pharmacists. She is a reviewer in a number of international journals and participates as a lecturer or moderator in continuing education courses for pharmacists.
